Reactwell founder, Brandon Iglesias, awarded patent on EMOPP oil & gas well kill, plug & abandon technology in July 2017.
Electromagnetic Oil Pipe Plugger (EMOPP) clogs oil, gas & utility pipes from the inside out by mixing adhesive with magnets to form a composite resin plug. Just like a heart attack results from clogged arteries restricting blood flow; an EMOPP clogs the annual space between casing and drill pipe or centerline to choke-off the fluid flow.
An electromagnetic chemical adhesive pipe plugging system combines magnets and composite resins in an elongated hollow injection quill to plug and abandon oil and gas well.s The injection quill has a plurality of circumferentially spaced magnetic jaws, a plurality of circumferentially spaced shoes, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced magnetic heads, wherein the magnetic jaws, shoes, and magnetic heads are capable of being pushed radially outward into gripping engagement with the inner diameter of a pipe assisted by chemical adhesive bonds against the pressure forces acting thereon, and the magnetic heads are capable of creating an intense magnetic field. Methods and means of deploying, positioning, maintaining, controlling, and operating the system are also provided and include insertion through the BOP primary exit line or choke and kill lines within a BOP device.
An extreme oil leak case in the Gulf of Mexico that occurred in the 1970’s known as the Ixtoc I Pemex Oil Spill resulted in 3,000,000 million barrels of crude oil released into the Gulf. The Ixtoc incident occurred on June 3rd 1979 and lasted for 294 days spewing a total of 3,000,000 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico at an average release rate of 10,204 bpd. The economic loss solely attributed to depleted reserves from the Ixtoc I Oil Spill today would represent a whopping $210,000,000 million dollars excluding mobilized manpower, environmental impact, and associated lawsuits.
EMOPP’s patented technology shortens the oil & gas well shut-in time period from months to hours. Oil & gas companies, venture capital firms, private equity firms, oil consortium and governments that strategically partnered on our EMOPP research and development at Reactwell are now the frontrunners in developing the world’s first quick acting / rapid deployable oil & gas well plugger. Minimizing the time an oil & gas well leak occurs by using EMOPP is a win-win for the oil & gas companies, governments, and environmental activists. EMOPP enhances safety effectiveness by adding a new tool to the well kill and plugging/abandonment toolbox. Ensure your government and service firms require the greatest advancement in oil and gas well kill, plug & abandon technology since the Blowout Preventer (BOP) was invented nearly 100 years ago in 1922 by Cameron.
